Improving Existing Product

Refining the Audience Dashboard

Problem Statement

One of our User gave a feedback indicating that the dashboard is difficult to navigate and that they struggle to find the data they need. The User also suggested to have an ‘export dashboard’ function so they can utilize graphs or even create their own for presentation to their stakeholders.

I’ve also observed that the dashboard doesn’t scale up well, especially when adding new set of graphs for our users. Additionally, the audience builder dashboard lacks customization options.

Explorative Analysis

I researched how different websites handle showing a lot of data. As a startup, we aimed to create something of high quality but also wanted to deliver it quickly. After looking at many designs, we found that a side navigation layout was a strong choice that nicely balanced a good user experience with efficient development.

Simply wall st. uses a side navigation layout on their stock page that also highlights the section currently being viewed by the user. This type of design is suitable for Inquiro’s current dashboard content.

Google Analytics employs a sidebar but dedicates separate pages for each content type. As Inquiro’s dashboard grows in complexity, this design strategy might prove to be more effective in the future iterations.

Ideation

The product owner and I organized team session along with few developers and data analytics team and discussed the following points:

  • New Layout of the dashboard
  • Customizable Dashboard: User-Selectable Charts
  • Visualization of charts
  • Export Dashboard Function

User Interface Design

Chart Customization

User can select chart templates that they deem needs for their audience visualization.

Redesigned Dashboard

Side navigation layout gives user a bigger picture on the content of the dashboard. New visualizations of charts were also made with the help of Data team

Export Dashboard

User can export the visualizations in JPG or PDF. They can also export the data table in CSV format so they can create their own charts.

Creating New Product

Market Scan: Agile Market Research made easy

Inquiro’s new product Market Scan is a technological solution that allows businesses to quickly identify and profile custom audiences, gaining essential topline stats and insights for targeted campaign planning.

User Story

As an Market researcher, I want to utilize the Market Scan tool to quickly access a wide range of consumer profiles, accurately identify target audience segments, and derive actionable insights for our marketing campaigns.

Ideation

Our team chose to make it look like our audience builder flow, adopting a step-by-step approach with recognizable design elements for the final visualization and downloadable dashboards (PDF, JPG, or CSV). Leveraging a familiar UI and dashboard aesthetic enhances user intuitiveness.

User Flow

Design Rationale

Data Entry pages

For Data entry pages, we included a timeline at the left side pane, crucially indicating their progress and upcoming steps. We are planning to make the Market Scan more customizable and meaningful in the future which adds more steps in this process so having a timeline is crucial in this design.

Market Scan Dashboard

As for the dashboard, the layout and navigation uses the same approach as the audience dashboard displaying necessary graphs and data for the user. Table of contents on the left side makes it more scalable in the future once more data and graphs are added.

Establishing the Design System

Inquiro’s UX principle

  • Present Data Clearly
  • Listen to Users
  • Prioritize Accessibility and Empathy
  • Design Intuitively
  • Provide Informative Feedback
  • Optimize Platform Performance
  • Integrate Inquiro’s Brand Seamlessly

Atomic Design System

Creating components in an atomic approach makes updating the design much easier and more flexible. We’ve also utilized design tokens to ensure uniformity in design implementation and smoother handoff to developers .

Colors

We use Blue Indigo as our primary color to align with our branding and neutral colors for copy and other non-branding elements. Additionally, we adhere to WCAG standards for accessibility.

Typography

In line with our branding, we used Anybody and Clash Display for Display fonts and Rubik for Body Fonts.
